Secretariat
The ANEC Secretariat ensures the daily operation of the association and co-ordinates the work and activities of the standing working groups in defined areas of priority. It keeps in close contact with the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Standards Bodies, NGOs and relevant actors. The Secretariat has a full time staff of ten people.
Secretary-General
Stephen Russell holds a Masters degree in Politics & Applied Economics and, after careers with BSI and CEN, has an expertise in standardisation of more than 20 years. Stephen leads the association under the strategic direction of the President and the General Assembly.
Executive Manager

Christiane Frans is the financial and personnel manager, supporting the Secretary-General in ensuring the association meets its legal obligations in Belgium.
Managers
Tania Vandenberghe is a bio-chemical engineer and manages activities in the sectors of Child Safety and Domestic Appliances, including electrical appliances, gas and machinery. She was made Senior Programme Manager in January 2009 to mark her 15th year with ANEC.
Chiara Giovannini holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in law. She is Research & Innovation Manager, responsible for the management of the ANEC research & testing projects as well as the sectors of Design for All and Information Society.
Laura Degallaix holds a Engineers degree Environmental Technology and a Master’s degree in Biology and Biochemistry. She is the Programme Manager in the sectors of Services and Environment.
Ayse Sümer holds a Bachelors degree in English literature. As well as the Assistant Programme Manager for Traffic, she is responsible for collaboration with Consumers International, is webmistress of the ANEC website and also acts as Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General.
Michela Vuerich, who holds a Masters degree in International Communication, is responsible for the management of activities in the field of Tourism Services. She also assists the work of the Environment, Services and Traffic Working Groups.
Assistants
David Bruno holds a degree in the translation of English and Italian and is assistant in the areas of Child Safety and Domestic Appliances. He is also lojistics manager.
 Natalia Giorgi holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science and a Masters degree in International Management. She assists in the fields of Design for All and Information Society and is commissioning editor of the ANEC Newsletter.
Stagiaire
Kristina Smailyte joined the Secretariat for a second internship from July 2010 until January 2011 following her post-graduate studies. Kristina has specific projects supporting the ANEC Programme Managers.
